And in regards to your question to Mogila, let me put it like this. If the only thing that can keep your kids in line is violence, you've already failed. If the only thing stopping them from stealing, bullying, vandalizing etc. is fear of repercussions, what will stop them whenever they think they can get away with it? Are you going to monitor them 24/7 till they die?

If people had respect and compassion for each other, you wouldn't need so much police, so many prisons, so much wasted time and efforts on trials and so much wasted life. You live in a culture where punishment is a form of entertainment, where you'd rather see people get hurt than help them improve, where people celebrate trial convictions and executions. I thought you, of all, would understand this, not because you're black, but because you hate the current system.

i guess you don't know kids are stupid and need guidance, sometimes firm.  think back to when you were a kid, just spend a whole day thinking about it, you will be amazed if you can remember back that far at what you were doing. kids are dumb, they don't know anything and you certainly can't expect them to know shit they don't know about, so when they start doing some shit they really shouldn't be doing and they aren't smart enough to understand why it's best to just tell them not to do it, why they shouldn't do it, and follow it up with a beating. even if they don't really know why you beat em right then because they aren't smart enough yet, hopefully the beating will be deterrent enough till they are older and smarter.

Here are some actual facts, corporal punishment is outlawed in Denmark, it's legal in the US; the incarceration rate in Denmark is 59 for every 100,000 citizens, in the US it is 737. I'm not saying there's a connection, but merely illustrating the difference between opinions and facts.

And here's my opinion. Beating your kids is like pissing your pants to keep warm. It has an immediate effect, but in the long run the effect will likely be reversed.
