Acme, I'll be happy to explain it to you, but you have a habit of derailing whenever your arguments are refuted.

And in regards to your question to Mogila, let me put it like this. If the only thing that can keep your kids in line is violence, you've already failed. If the only thing stopping them from stealing, bullying, vandalizing etc. is fear of repercussions, what will stop them whenever they think they can get away with it? Are you going to monitor them 24/7 till they die?

If people had respect and compassion for each other, you wouldn't need so much police, so many prisons, so much wasted time and efforts on trials and so much wasted life. You live in a culture where punishment is a form of entertainment, where you'd rather see people get hurt than help them improve, where people celebrate trial convictions and executions. I thought you, of all, would understand this, not because you're black, but because you hate the current system.

i guess you don't know kids are stupid and need guidance, sometimes firm.  think back to when you were a kid, just spend a whole day thinking about it, you will be amazed if you can remember back that far at what you were doing. kids are dumb, they don't know anything and you certainly can't expect them to know shit they don't know about, so when they start doing some shit they really shouldn't be doing and they aren't smart enough to understand why it's best to just tell them not to do it, why they shouldn't do it, and follow it up with a beating. even if they don't really know why you beat em right then because they aren't smart enough yet, hopefully the beating will be deterrent enough till they are older and smarter.

these are facts. disagree if you want doesn't change the nature of facts.

Opposed to what? Your usual opinionated claims? I thought you only believed in facts.

Regardless, those aren't facts, they are opinions like everything else you post and I don't know why you wanted to address them as facts this time.

Here are some actual facts, corporal punishment is outlawed in Denmark, it's legal in the US; the incarceration rate in Denmark is 59 for every 100,000 citizens, in the US it is 737. I'm not saying there's a connection, but merely illustrating the difference between opinions and facts.

And here's my opinion. Beating your kids is like pissing your pants to keep warm. It has an immediate effect, but in the long run the effect will likely be reversed.

Here are some more facts from 2002:

Of the states with the ten highest murder rates in the United States, educators paddle children in eight of them.
Of the states with the ten lowest murder rates in the nation, educators paddle children in one of them.

Of the ten states with the highest percentage of the population in prison, educators paddle children in nine of them.
Of the ten states with the lowest percentage of the population in prison, educators do not paddle children in any of them.

Of the ten worst states in the United States in which to raise children, as measured by the condition of children index, educators paddle children in all ten of them.
Of the ten best states in the United States in which to raise children, as measured by the condition of children index, educators do not paddle children in any of them.

Of the states in the bottom ten percent* in terms of average proficiency in math, educators paddle children in all of them.
Of the states in the top ten percent* in terms of average proficiency in math, educators paddle children in one of them.

The list goes on...

Maybe you should go cook up some new facts, because those you had there don't seem to agree with reality at all.

Are you really too dumb to see the correlation between corporal punishment and the later societal consequences? Regardless of whether paddling has since been banned, the effect of paddling remains the same.

It's weird to see you go for irrelevancies while arguing that I'm the one who wants to argue for the sake of arguing.

There's an extremely clear correlation between corporal punishment and societal consequences and you're too stubborn to admit it.

Yes, why waste any MORE of your time.

It's kind of a great time waster. It's basically like playing tennis with a wall.

The wall here is acme's skull. Hitting the ball directly at the wall is like spouting a coherent and well thought out argument, but that argument fails to enter acme's skull. Thus, it is deflected, like the ball is by the wall. But this is not a flat wall, so it gets deflected in some other unrelated direction.

It looks like Jay is a pro at this game.

lol thats like the dumbest fucking correlation ever, even for you. they outlawed corporal punishment in 77, before i was even fucking born, how are you gonna compare that to crime statistics for 2002, some 25 years later.

As the report notes, corporal punishment is banned in most juvenile correction facilities in the U.S., and yet it continues in public schools. The legal paradox can be traced to a 1977 Supreme Court ruling that found the Eighth Amendment only protects convicted criminals from cruel and unusual punishment — not students confined to a classroom.
Corporal Punishment in U.S. Schools (2009)

In order to determine whether there is a correlation between corporal punishment in schools and macro-level societal outcomes, two sets of data were compared and analyzed. The first is the United States Department of Education's 1998 Elementary and Secondary School Civil Rights Compliance Report, which tracks the use of corporal punishment in public schools and, specifically, provides the number of incidents of corporal punishment in each state in which it is legal for the 1997-98 school year.
Correlation study

And you insist that you believe in nothing but facts and are happy to admit when you're wrong? You're delusional, Acme. About yourself and everything else.
