PS3 Jailbreak released to the public
« on: September 02, 2010, 03:52:50 AM »
I’m sure Sony isn’t too happy about this news. The PSJailbreak claimed to allow users to backup their games to a hard drive recently, and now a hack called PSGroove has surfaced, which claims to be an open source PSjailbreak.

This time the code has to be downloaded and installed on an AT90USBkey or Teensy++ USB development board, then you homebrew sorts will be able to execute unsigned third-party apps and games on the PS3. The ability to boot ISO files is disabled for now, but we are sure that a workaround will be available soon.

Sony is no doubt working fast to kill this.

Why am I having a deja vu?

I have a feeling that Frank is one of those kids whose mom tried to abort him in the womb with a dirty clothes hanger and failed, but not before poking him a few times through his soft, developing skull.

I used my HTC Incredible to hack my PS3. Works like a charm. Though I gotta hand it to Sony for holding out for about three years without a viable way to break into their system, especially considering that their PSP was mercilessly opened up and ravaged like a starving Thai whore earning her $15.

What Firmware are you using it with? Did you have to block the Ps3 from accessing the web as well?

3.41. I haven't checked any of the PS3 sites for any updates to the hack today, but as of last night upgrading to 3.42 disables the jailbreak. However, you don't have to block the machine from accessing the internet -- as of right now, who knows what Sony will eventually implement -- though I've always had automatic updates turned off. So, yeah, no online play until 3.42 is broken and/or somebody figures out how to spoof PSN again.
