iSONEWS Connection?

What Is This?
No, this is not an iSONEWS replacement. Worst case scenario, it would be an iSONEWS sanctuary, in case something happens to iSONEWS.
This is:
  • A place for people who want to join the community, but can't because of the broken registration on iSONEWS.
  • A place for the community to find and submit new releases without feeling dirty about visiting NForce.
  • A place for free speech. In most communities the users are subject to a crippling set of rules while the staff is free to censor anything they consider bad taste. On isoleeted the staff are subject to very strict rules on what they can moderate, while you, the user, can say virtually anything you want as long as you follow a few simple rules listed in the rules thread.

The State of iSONEWS
For years iSONEWS has suffered from the absence of an active admin. While other communities were flourishing, iSONEWS was becoming evermore stale. Yet, with a steady flow of new members, the community managed sustain itself. At least that was the state till we reached the year 2008. It's now been more than half a year since the admin vanished from the face of the earth and to make matters worse, the registration is broke, which means iSONEWS is without new members to keep the community alive. Without divine(admin) intervention it is only a matter of time before iSONEWS suffocates. It can be a slow "natural" death as people are allowed to leave, but not to register or a quick death in form of some database error, permanently crippling the site. At any rate, we'd appreciate it if you bookmarked this site, so the iSO community won't go down with the ship, should something happen to iSONEWS.

There are some nice touches, if it gets the support it could end up a good replacement (even tho, its not a replacement  ;) )..

BTW, considering that isonews hasnt been updated in such a long time, it shouldnt be too hard to find some kind of exploit to rip the user database and/or other useful data from there and import it here.  Would be a shame to lose all that history when it finally sinks...

We could write some software to scrape the site like we do with the snappers, but it would be very disrespectful to iSONEWS and not something I would support.

Well, you've got my backing anyway. Site looks great, lots of things i like about it.

We'll have to Kill theisonews though, to make everyone move. Prolly gonna be the only way. Hehe.

Not sure if he ment something different, but i'd say might be worth it to keep some of the classics threads there so they could be reposted here int he event isonews does go down.
