Much as though I hate consoles, I have a wii which is fun. That is until you realise there are only about 10 or so games worth getting. Nintendo bombed out big time by not releasing hardly anything for this system.

I'd consider getting a 360 if I was really bored but after the many many stories of PS3's failing after about 2 weeks, and some of the problems I've heard with the media player side of it I dont think I'd touch one with a barge pole. Especially as I only know one person who has one (and about 3,000,000 people with 360's and wii's).

No matter how much I try to like consoles though, theres less games on a console than on a PC that are worth getting. Most console games are "OMFG WOW" for the first hour then you realise its the same old with better graphics (and often less gameplay).

I always thought the real fun in having a console would be to have local multiplayer fun when you have a few buddies over.

But then I realized that it wasn't worth the money, when you could do this with your PC. Just buy two-four cheap Saitek gamepads and get the xbox controller emulator (x360ce). You'd be surprised how many PC games can be split screened:

Blur
Split Second
Kane and Lynch
Unreal Tournament 3
Left 4 Dead 1 and 2
Sega Allstars
Serious Sam
...

Not to mention other games two ore more plays can play on one computer:

Pro Evolution Soccer 2k10
Nba 2k10
Trine
Bionic Commando Rearmed
Obscure 2
...

This is provided that your PC is your media player (i.e., hooked up to your TV). Trust me, those games are more than enough fun to play with your buddies if needed. Plus, not only do you save 200 bucks on a console, but you also save on games (Some I bought, i.e. Left 4 Dead 2 and Trine since those are fantastic games).

I honestly don't believe there are any games that justify dropping a few hundred on a console.

now i have one of each. all mostly collecting dust. if you get a console. get it for a secondary reason besides just playing games. ps3 plays blu-rays, xbox is "easy" to hack, wii...well it has a motion controller...and mario brothers shit i guess.
