Topic: Sell me a console. (Read 3810 times)

Being a hardcore PC exclusive gamer up until now, I'm starting to feel like I'm missing out. There must be some great current gen console games available, or coming soon. But which ones are they, and which console has the most of them?
I'm looking for games not available on the PC, and no FPS or RTS either, they should stay on the PC, far away from gamepads.

So if I'm buying one current gen console, which one should I get, and why do I need it if I have a high end gaming PC. Sell me on a console, and give me some recommendations for great games for it.

Get yourself an Ps3 if you're looking into playing Blu-rays.
I'm using a Ps3 + Ps3 media senter on pc for streaming wireless all my shit to the console, works with virtually any kind of file format (avi, mpg , dvd img etc etc), just freaking awesome compared to Tversity.

Xbox 360 has probably more games around, however I kinda like the ps3 games more, at least I think I got a pretty neat collection :

*Ninja Gaiden Sigma (Great for SM fans like me).
*Metal Gear solid IV (A pure classic).
*Resistance 1 + 2
*Singstar Games (awesome for that home party which includes booze, half naked girl friends, and a pretty funny mood).
*Motorstorm (yeah, I know the loading sucks, but this game IS a classic).
*Killzone 2 (yeah, guess why I'm not playing Rom lately :p)
*Uncharted : Drakes fortune (A pretty godamn alternative to boobie raider needs a nude mod series).
*Gta IV (not really a ps3 exclusive, but good nonetheless).
*SoulCalibur IV.
*Little Big planet.

Honsetly, a console is much better to play certain kinds of games, like ninja gaiden zigma or soul calibur. Much more fun and less irritating moments than juggling with the keyboard and getting the PIIIP when you press to many buttons at once and the fucking shit does just allow up to 4 keys at once.

Resistance and Killzone are both FPS's, so they fail on console. Like I said shooters and RTS's should stay on PC.

party games don't mean much if you have no friends, so that's total meh. I don't give two shits about fighting games. That leaves GTA IV which not only sucks, but after their utterly disgraceful PC port I wouldn't buy it even if it was the best game evar, out of pure hate.

MGS IV is crap, Motorstorm looks ok but definitely nothing unique, Ninja Gaiden again look cool but nothing special, which leaves Uncharted, which looks great, but also looks so much like the Tomb Raiders that I might just as well play them, with the added bonus of nude patches and Lara's boobs.

Nope, still not buying a console. I'm looking for that game that is just so totally amazing that it justifies the cost of a console just to have it. Something that isn't available or has a better alternative on the PC.

Oh, Bluray, yeah I'd rather watch regular DVD's, HD is so sharp it's uncomfortable for me to watch, maybe that's just me tho? Plus I already have a PC with full hardware HD decoding hooked up to my TV, so IF I ever decided to get a BR DVD, it would be cheaper to just get a drive for that than a whole PS3.

Well, it seems you are allready locked inn your decision so honestly you could have saved yourself the time by not posting this thread.

And honestly, Fps works perfectly fine on consoles, its just another way to play.

i have a 360 and its collecting dust. i played forza 2 for a long while, and that was fun, but then bought a g25, so now im playing better games. ive played the ps3 too and its really more of the same. unfortunatley i never had a chance to play gt5. but i did play mgs it was ok, but i didnt really like it, i played resident evil whatever coop and that was ok but again i dont see myself playing through all of it. devil may cry was fun, i was told its basically teh same as god of war, and i could see myself playing it, im considering getting it for the 360.

oh i also played a party game, hail to the chimp, on the ps3 and that was absolutley brilliant. but you dont want party games or have friends, so forget about that

so the moral of the story is that you should go out and buy a used ps2 for 20 bucks and get the god of war series.

No buy a 360 and a blu-ray drive for your PC if you want blu-ray even. That way you can have your cake and eat it... plus you will be able to do what a console is supposed to do, play a fucking game without installing it!

Oh and Malvado keyboard ghosting only occurs on shitty old keyboards that are only baught by the kind of shmucks that buy PS3's. look i'm pressing loads of keys to gether here... hjgmnzyghujkshkujmjhkum,zikujm,wk,jmuhhk,jmfhku,jmsdjiwyersesdr see no problems

Really, don't buy a console if you don't plan to play with a few friends. Save the money and stick to PC otherwise, there is good enough games on it anyways. Console, IMO, is just great if you have a few buddies over for which you don't want to have the hassle of setting up a LAN with. Other than that, I don't see the advantage of spending that much money just so you can play a game that's not on the PC.

I don't even know if you are a dumb ass idiot or just severly brain damaged moron, anyway if you had any wits at all you would know that some people actually uses their Living room and huge Lcd displays for watching media and not the average shitty 19-22" lcd pc screen. And that's where actually buying an Ps3 comes to its right since it supports way more options than an average Blu-ray player (such as wireless streaming , media server and more).
As for your argument on not installing a game, I just see another Xbox360 idiot complaining about the ps3 since it has to install its game, which is not the case in several of the games avaibable. However it's an option on several games in order to reduce load times by a decent amount of time.
Some games though does need to be installed, but that is again due to the complexity of the game.

Go play with your Xbox360 and be happy.

if you want a good looking gaming experience(console-wise) get a HD monitor/TV and get a 360/PS3, the choice of which is down to what games you prefer.

For lower standards of quality -in appearance- get a wii. (Requires 2 friends to enjoy)
