just a reminder for that if you do want to race, that next week is the first rounds of the world tour.  there are 2 races at daytona road.  the first, on saturday, is a touring car class race (with the mazda mx5, jetta cup and pontiac solstice) - a reminder that you only need to own the car you are going to race now, so if you only have the base content, you only need daytona to race in that race - and then on sunday its the 2.4 hours of daytona with the mustang and the DP.  I raced in the mustang last year (came 2nd place in my split), this year im going to step up in the prototype.

some pics from last year (excuse the poor quality it was before i got my new computer)

and some pics i took today, testing setups and fuel loads for the prototype

Testing at Daytona for the 2.4 hours

Loving the ISO logo on the hood. Can I use it on the site?

So yeah, it turns out i fucked up, 2h45 of daytona is NEXT weekend, not this weekend... so here are some pictures and videos from Sebring, which is this week.

and some videos, the first is just a lap alone and a lap in traffic, the second is a pretty risky, but good pass.
Night laps at sebring international in the DP (iRacing)

Practice pass at sebring night iRacing

The 2.4 hours of Daytona just finished... team isoleeted - k-one - apple - evangelion Started in dead last in class (32nd).  15 minutes in it made side to side contact for position going into turn 1.  my spotter reported wheel damage but after half a lap of cautious driving i decided that the damage wasnt significant and got back to my pace.  spent the next 45 minutes or so battling my way up to 3rd position, then took my first pit stop.  came out of the pits in 8th and battled my way back to 5th, then the leaders cycled their stops and i was back up to 3rd place, battling hard with sean siff (hes one of the iRacing administrators - if youve watched any of the iRacing TV broadcasts hes always on it).  battled hard with sean for about 10 laps, then under pressure from me, he clipped the grass going into turn 1 and pulled it into the inside wall, i was up in second.  continued on my pace, and the leader spun coming out of the infield onto the oval banking.  i overtook him and took 1st place.  I proceeded to lead the race for the next 30 minutes or so (16 laps) but with baked tires, i spun going out of the infield onto the oval (the same place i overtook the leader ironically).  i fell back into 3rd place after the spin and immediatley on that lap dove into the pits for my final stop (it was time for a stop anyway, and with worn tires with a spin on them, i wasnt gonna risk another lap with them).  came out of the pits in 6th and proceeded to make my way back up to 3rd as the pit stops cycled through.  i pretty much stayed there the next 45 minutes as i settled in for the finish, and finished 3rd.  not bad for starting from last place.  and now for some pictures.

The starting grid - you can see me alllll the way in the back on the left side.

early in the race, battling my way through the field, i outbraked this dude into the bus stop:

the side to side contact happened here:

And going three wide on the banking as i had to split im between two mustangs that were battling eachother

Well done. Would love a video if you have one.

i tried, the source files are too big and crash windows movie maker (i dont have proper video editing software).  if i ever figure it out, ill post it.

... edit, i downloaded premiere and spent about 2 hours editing a video together to music... then spent another 3 hours trying 10000 different ways of exporting it so that it wouldnt cause that piece of shit premiere to crash.  so i have a nice full video done and made and its basically useless because i cant export it or even watch it in premiere without something crashing.

dont use premiere, its shit.

EDIT 2: looks like premiere kept crashing because xfire hadnt recorded the videos properly.  it seems that premiere cant handle videos with bugged frames.  re-recorded everything with fraps and premiere worked like a treat.  so the moral of the story is

dont use xfire, its shit

im rendering it now.

EDIT 3:

redering this is more complicated than i thought.  basically blew away the entire day trying to get the quality i want in a decently sized package which is pretty difficult (espeically when you had premiere downscaling the video, then upscaling it back to its original format because you put the settings in wrong).  rendering now... again, hopefully ill have it up by the end of the day.

video is finally done.  encoding was a bitch and a half, but i learned a ton about video compression and encoding in the process.

Great video, Davy. And yeah, video compression/encoding can be a real hassle at times.

the iRacing 120 minutes of Sebring JUST finished.  Started second in class, moved up to first within the first 5 laps.  about 10 laps in the HPDs were making their lapping of the GT2s (which i was in).  got pinged in the rear left wheel which made the car very unstable under braking, but i had mangaed to work up a 15 second or so lead based on good traffic management, and had about 40 minutes till my first scheduled stop.  decided to deal with it and manage the damage as best i could.  managed to maintain my lead and open the gap to about 20 seconds by my first stop 50 minutes in.  took 4 boots and a full load and was out still in first (2nd pitted before me).  ran for another 45 minutes uneventfully and maintained my lead.  one more stop with just under 20 minutes to go, 4 fresh tires and a half a load of fuel (more than enough to get to the end).  opened my lead up even more.  with 10 minutes left, got rear ended in a brake zone by a GT1 car.  somehow managed to make it away with the car in good driveale condition.  slowed my pace down the last 10 minuts and took it easy and drove it home for a class win for iSOLEETED Racing.
