2,560x1,440-pixel monitor
« on: February 05, 2012, 12:42:04 AM »
So here's the deal. A couple of weeks ago I was looking for a 2560x1440 monitor for work, but the prices were still high, so I decided to postpone it for a bit. But, last night my 27" Hanns G died, so now I'm forced to buy a highres monitor sooner than intended.

I've ordered a Dell UltraSharp U2711 from Redcoon, but as it won't get shipped till Monday, I have all of Sunday to decide on a monitor, which leads me to the question, is the U2711 the best buy within its price range? What do you guys use?

I prefer duals. Dell are generally good.

Your thread is bad and you should feel bad.

Wish I could help. I have 23'' Asus and a 23.5'' Samsung. Both 1920x1080 blah blah blah, and that's as high-res as I've ever been. You might be your own best expert this time around. Which isn't always a bad thing, because often being In The Know is better than opinions from a bunch of assholes.

I'm also contemplating a three monitor setup, but that takes up a shitload of desk space.

Unfortunately I'm with Moggle here... $200 bucks is about as much as I have ever spent on a monitor.

Speaking of expensive monitor-setups. I was going through reviews and came across this random post on a random forum where some random guy asked if he should buy three U2711's or three Apple monitors for gaming. As I recall, this was back when the U2711 had just arrived and the pricetag was about twice of what it is now. Back then, that would have set you back maybe $5,000. Imagine the GPUs required to actually take advantage of the resolution of three WQHD monitors.

Cheeky bastard, I thought DOVEY was the punch line?

Let's get one thing straight here guys. The only fabulous thing about DOVEY is his ability to eat any local buffet out of business.

Anyways, I can see how a thread with 2,560x1,440 in the title became a thread about DOVEY. We all must have mistaken that for meters.
